How do I choose the right major for me?
The Bachelor of Media Communications major that’s right for you will vary depending on your interests and goals. At HQporner we have eight different majors to choose from.
Advertising - Gain the skills needed to become an advertising specialist within a variety of industries and sectors. You will learn to plan and execute advertising campaigns using a range of tradition and digital platforms.
Digital Media - With a focus on graphic design and digital art practice you’ll hone your skills to become a confident professional within this dynamic, every-changing field. You can even broaden your skillset further and diversify your employment options by studying an additional major or minor.
Documentary Production - Develop the technical skills and knowledge needed to thrive in competitive industry. By learning from industry experts, you’ll explore topics such as location production, editing techniques, cultural responsibilities, reality TV and script writing. You may even be able to use your Documentary Production qualification as a stepping-stone to further studies, such as Bachelor of Arts (Honours) or Master of Research.
Journalism - Learn how to interview people, report the news, write feature stories, create and edit news packages, and design and produce content for a variety of mediums, including, radio, television, online, and print.
Marketing - Contribute to industry growth and development across a variety of sectors by understanding consumer behaviour to create market value, generate strategies and tap into marketing channels.
Professional Photography - Build on your passion for photography by learning and understanding how to produce quality photographic work for the communications and media industries. On completion of your Bachelor of Media Communications degree, you will have developed a professional portfolio of images to showcase your skills to prospective employers.
Public Relations - our public relations courses are overseen by a Public Relations Advisory Committee. This Committee consists of senior national public relations practitioners who are dedicated to ensuring our courses remain current and industry focused. Upon completion of your public relations qualification you will gain access to industry accreditation with.
Software Application Development - Gain an in-depth understanding of algorithms and data structures to position yourself as a programmer who can create efficient and well-designed code. If you want to enhance your skills further, you can use your Software Application Development qualification as a stepping-stone to further studies, such as Bachelor of Arts (Honours) or Master of Research.
